Focus of the 37th Bled eConference: Digital Sustainability and AI Innovations

A conference “37. Bled eConference” was held from 9 to 12 June, organized by the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University of Maribor.

he conference featured insightful keynote speeches by Marianne ter Veen, Director Lead Data Sharing, Innopay, Netherlands, who shed light on digital sustainability – creating long-term value, transparency and equity for all stakeholders in the context of data spaces. Another insightful keynote was delivered by Tomi Ilijaš, Director of Arctur, who highlighted how AI-driven innovation can improve the lives of people, organisations and societies.

The opening session was continued by panelists Tomi Ilijaš, Arctur, Mariane ter Veen, Innopay, Dr. Domen Mongus, University of Maribor, Tomaž Petek, GURS, and Sašo Kuntarič, XLab, who addressed the new paradigm of data spaces from a technological, sustainability and humanistic perspective, chaired by Aleš Veršič from the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

Over the three days, 47 research papers and 5 research in progress papers were presented, focusing on the following topics: Digital Health, Digital Education, Digital Consumer, AI & Data Science, Decision Analytics, Business Models, Digital Transformation of Public Services, Smart Sustainable Cities, Restructured Work and Digital Ethics. In addition, workshops on research methodology and the maturity of SMEs in using open data were organized and a panel “Empowering Paths: The Importance of Building a Support Network for Women and Girls in IT” concluded this year’s conference.
